Will was begrudgingly lying in bed. That morning when she had ventured into the living room, the healer told her that Corqian had gone out for a walk and until he returned she was confined to the other room and bed. So that’s where she was at this very moment. In bed. However that was the last place she wanted to be, she was getting restless and bored and wanted to see the town considering she hadn’t been in town for at least a year now. The healer’s wife came in to check on her, concern on her face. “Dear you must try and sleep, you’re friend will be back soon. However you need to recuperate. By the way how did you get so wounded?” the woman asked now curious and eyeing Will carefully. Will stiffened, and a cold look came into her eyes “We were out hunting and I didn’t see the edge of the cliff, luckily it wasn’t steep enough to kill me” and the way she said it, the wife knew that, that was the last that they would talk about it. Nodding the wife left the room and Will found herself alone again. Crossing her arms in a huff she looked around. Getting an idea she lifted herself out of bed and quietly limped over to the window. Perfect the ground was right there. Grabbing a chair Will opened the window and as carefully as she could she quietly slipped out.
Ah, fresh air was wonderful. Will took a deep breath of it and she began limping through the village with her cane. Her hair was once again out of a braid so it was getting in her way again. Maybe she should just cut it. However the look she was getting from some men, made her grin. Nah, long hair isn’t so bad she thought trying not to laugh. She was enjoying the fresh air however she stopped when she noticed a group of young boys and a man whose back was to her. That man looked familiar…it took her a minute to realize that it was Corqian. She began hobbling closer to the group in time to hear the bravest of the lads challenge Corqian. “Oh, god” she muttered as she got closer and closer to the group. “Don’t be stupid Corqian”

“No young, I will not indulge in war today”
Corqian was about to walk away when he heard Will call out from behind him, he turned around and saw her in her close fitting clothes, a few bandages stuck out from the outfit. Corqian turned his back from the group and walked back to her. Even though he knew she was stronger then most, his instincts told him she should have stayed in bed.
“I would dare do that Will, besides look at you, your walking around hurt. Here let me help you, I’ll make some tea back at the healer’s home.”
Corqian took Will’s hand and began walking down the dirt road of the village, the fresh cool air hit his face, it was refreshing for once, lifting his head to feel it against his face. He took his time, admiring the forest to the west, the mountains to the north, the sea to the east. He felt it all, his hand gripped Will’s a little tighter. Corqian’s eyes wondered to the sky, a sparrow hawk flying above them, Corqian smiled and looked back to Will. She leaned on her cane as they went, Corqian gave her some relief as he helped her along the road.
“Are you feeling well, you were hurt badly when I found you. Fading in and out of cautiousness, I’m just glad you’re alright.”
Corqian led Will back to the healer’s cottage, opening the door the healers wife gave a confused stare, hadn’t the woman been in bed.
“We went for a lovely stroll, just to stretch are legs.”
Leading her back into her room he put her back into bed. Tucking her back into bed, he took a pot and filled it with some water. Reaching into his pouch he pulled out a few herbs and tea leaves, throwing them into the pot he allowed it to cook.

Sighing Will aloud Corqian to help her back to the healer’s house. You’d think that after living alone for a couple years in the woods that people would trust you to be able to recover. Apparently not. However it was easier to walk when a lot of her weight was on Corqian. They walked in silence but it wasn’t an uncomfortable silence it was a nice calming silence. However when Corqian did break the silence Will sighed
“Yes I’m fine, I didn’t die did I? Thank you by the way; but I have lived on my own through injuries and I survived so I’m pretty sure I’ll be up and running very, very soon” she said trying to reassure him as they reached the healer’s cottage. She repressed a laugh at the look on the wife’s face but she couldn’t hide the grin as she nodded in agreement with Corqians lie. Once back in the room, Will let him help back into bed. She repressed a groan as her body ached all over. However once back in bed it did feel nice, with the fluffy pillows and such. She watched as he scurried around making tea, her mind racing. She waited until he was waiting for the tea to steep before asking.
“Why did you stay?”

Corqian froze, the question was not one he expected, though it wasn’t his duty anymore to protect the weak or innocent, he knew why he stayed. He did it for himself, for a selfish reason, perhaps he was paying back the debt all those years ago. One can not run from ones past, it always seemed to come back.
“I stayed because of you.”
Corqian said as he poured the herb tea into a small clay mug, he poured one for himself as well. Handing it to her he assured Will it would help her heal quicker and invoke long healthy life, though he chuckled as to say it wouldn’t make you live for hundreds of years. He sat down on the bed, his mind wondering back to the fight in the woods. It was still fresh in his mind though it was a blur, every movement was like a dark memory of the past, the deep beast that dwells inside all men waiting to come out has come forth and claimed others, but this time it was under control and for the right reason.
Corqian was never good with words he rather watch and listen, his eyes moved to Wills, he fair skin was brought out beautifully with her golden hair. She was a beauty.
“It will take a few days to mend your wounds, however I will take you home when you wish it.”

Will expected that reaction, his freezing and short reply. However the reply wasn’t what she expected. Not entirely at least. “I stayed because of you” it was different from what she expected. She had expected “It was my duty” or “Well you obviously need protection” or some lame answer like that, that a man would use to a female. However she got “I stayed because of you” almost as if he liked being with her, in her company and…now she was just letting herself get carried away.
Nodding a thank you when he handed her the tea, she took a sip and immediately spat it back into the cup. “God that’s disgusting!” she burst out, a look of disgust crossing her face and she immediately placed the cup on the bedside table. Giving it one last look she sunk down in the bed more comfortably. She was getting sleepy. She watched him as he sat on the bed, deep in thought. It almost seemed like a troubling thought. However when he brought up going home almost, mechanically as if it was just another part of this she immediately felt guilty.
“Well you don’t have to stay if you don’t want to. I was only going to stay here for one more night before going to an inn and recovering there. I mean if you have more important elvish things to do then please don’t let me stand in your way”

“I will stay, I want to stay.”
Corqian took another sip of his tea, quickly finishing it off he only smiled as Will spit hers up, it was a special brand, you had to have a taste for it. He got up off the bed and took the mugs back into the living room, returning he saw her settling down into the bed, she had a sleepy look come across her as she dug under the covers.
“Rest now, and don’t think of an inn, they can’t give the care that you need. Besides I have taken care of your lodging here, you can stay as long as you need.”
Corqian’s hand went upon her head, he felt for temperature and any abnormalities, but none were apparent.
“Is their anything else you wish of me?”

Will sighed as her eyes began to droop “Ok, I want you to stay to” she mumbled as she began drifting off to sleep. It was so warm and cozy in that bed and in that house in general. Will felt safe and content, she could stay there forever. However she knew she couldn’t. Once she was healed, her and Corqian would go their separate ways and probably never see each other again. Good for him, then he wouldn’t have to deal with a hurt damsel in distress, even though Will classified herself as the farthest thing from a Damsel in Distress, however with the events from the day before she could probably have classified herself as one then. Except for the fact that she had put up one hell of a fight. She smiled at the memory and was proud of herself. Will felt his hand on her forehead and sighed “Thank you” she murmured before he left and she drifted off into a deep, deep sleep.
The next morning, Will still felt incredibly sore and stiff and when she got up to examin herself in the mirror she was still a large bruise, however she did feel slightly better. Maybe it was going to take longer than she thought to heal. Same as the day before the healer’s wife came and to help her with her bandages and to dress. And as the day before she wore looser clothing so it was easier to move. Grabbing her cane she limped outside, wanting to explore the village for a while seeing as she hadn’t been there in a while. She could feel that today would be a good day.

The day showed promise by the hour, as the sun rose over the horizon it warmed the forest and village with heat and light. A slight breeze came in from the eastern coast, cooling the day and keeping the town comfortable. Corqian had awoken early again, helping the healer he collected firewood and repaired the roof of their house. Now he was enjoying some private time, lying against a tree on the edge of town Corqian slowly played his flute. A calm and soothing melody, playing from his heart he was quickly found by a young girl of about 8 years old. She watched Corqian as he played, when he finished she came up to him, hesitant to speak, but just listen Corqian continued playing. Not long after he found he was attracting a small group of younglings, just as he finished his song one of the youngling girl’s spoke up.
“That was beautiful, are you an Elf?”
Corqian nodded to the question and all the children jumped up in surprise. They had never met many Narnian creatures, even though their village rested on the forest. They thought him to be an amazing being, one they thought they would never see, and knowing elf to be a legend. Another question rose from another child.
“Elf’s live for a long time, how old are you?”
Corqian smiled and chuckled a little trying to keep it in, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to tell. Though he looked to be a man in his mid 20s, he wasn’t he was far older then that.
“I am 212 years old.”
All the children went silent, they all knew the oldest member of the village was the healer and his wife, but they were only 65 years old.
“Wow….” One of the children said, “I wish I could live that long, do you have an elf wife?”

Will limped through the village, watching everybody bustle around, making bargains and such. It was all just so…alive; she came upon a flower stand, they were all so beautiful she just had to buy a bouquet for the healer’s wife, she had been so kind and helpful to Will that it was the least she could do. Thanking the vendor once she had chosen and paid for the bouquet she continued walking through the village. However after about an hour she was beginning to feel tire and decided to go back to the healer’s house. As she walked back she caught the eye of a man staring at her. Thinking of it as nothing she shot him a smile and kept walking. However as she continued walking she couldn’t help but feel as if she was being followed. Looking behind her, the same man was following her. Getting a little worried she tried to pick up her pace, even though it was kind of hard when you had a cane.
Normally she wouldn’t be so worried, however now that she was hurt she wouldn’t be able to defend herself very well if at all. And there was something familiar about the man, and it bothered her that she couldn’t remember. She reached the healer’s house finally, walking in and closing the door she immediately watched as the man walked by, giving the house a glance but continued walking not a stutter in his step. Will watched him for another minute until it hit her. “Oh, my god” she whispered. The healer’s wife came in and smiled at her. “Hello Will did you have a nice walk?” she asked pleasantly. However Will could’ve cared less about her walk now. “Where’s Corqian?” she asked. “He went for a walk; I think he went towards the edge of the village if I’m not mistaken. Is something wrong?” she asked worriedly. “I don’t know” Will answered quietly. Just as she was about to walk out the door she turned and handed to flowers to the woman. “Here, these are for you as a thank you” she said quickly before limping out the door.
As she walked she kept an eye out for the man. If he was who she thought he was then a lot of things were definitely going to get turned around. As she reached the edge of the village she searched frantically for Corqian. Finally she spotted him with a group of kids surrounding him. “What is he the pied piper?” she muttered to herself as she limped as quickly as she could towards him. Reaching him she said quietly “We need to leave. Now.”

Corqian blushed a little as the little girl asked her question, Corqian knew it wasn’t private or secret, he leaned in but before he could Will came from town, hustling on her cane as she moved, like she had seen a ghost she moved right up to Corqian. He was taken back by her sudden need for a haste leave. She wasn’t fully healed and it wasn’t a good idea to go right now, but something was a matter. Corqian got up from his rock he had been sitting on and turn to the children.
“I’m sorry younglings but I have to depart.”
The little children gave a sighed as Corqian left, but before leaving they waved him good bye. The two walked over to the edge of a building where Corqian pulled Will over, making sure no one could see them, or was following them.
“What’s the matter Will, you look scared. Did you see something?”

Will was glancing around nervously but shook her head “Uh, no I just really want to go home” she replied, not convincingly she knew but she wasn’t going to tell him the real reason, only if he absolutely had to know, and she doubted he would. “So, let’s uh go back to the healers grab whatever we forgot and go ok?” she asked and without bothering to wait for a reply started limping quickly back towards the healer’s she kept a sharp eye out and just as she was just about to reach the healers she entered a big crowd and was pulled into a dark alley between the houses by a strong hand. She knew nobody would have seen it because compared to most of the people in the crowd which were men she was short and nobody paid any attention to the alleys. Without even having to look at the man that had pulled her there she said “Hello William” almost angrily but kind of annoyed. “What the hell do you think you’re doing? We all thought you were dead” he said angrily but with the noise of the crowd nobody could hear their conversation. “Well, you thought wrong. Besides that’s all in the past now leave me be and go on with you’re life and let me get on with mine!” she replied icily and started to limp away, however his big strong hand caught her arm tightly and she hissed in pain. “You know I can’t leave you now that I’ve found you again. You have 2 weeks to leave wherever you are now and come back to the castle with me. If not I’ll go after you’re little elf friend. I’ll be watching and waiting. Goodbye Willemina” he whispered threateningly in her ear before letting her go. Will looked at him frightened before quickly getting back onto the street, making back into the healer’s house, gathered her few possessions and waited for Corqian.

Though Corqian knew she had something troubling her, he nodded and said nothing else. Corqian took her hand and followed her down the dusty road of the village. Corqian enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, Will’s hand in his. They were almost to the healer’s cottage when they walked down the last road and found themselves in a large group of people, before Corqian knew Will’s hand slipped and pulled away from him. He turned about, back and forth he looked but she was no where to be seen. He stayed calm, knowing that Will was able to take care of her self. However after a few minutes he was worried, pushing through the crowd he had completely lost her. He became frightened and quickly rushed back to the healer’s cottage, hoping to find her sitting and waiting.
Corqian opened the door to the cottage, he was finally happy to see Will gathering her things in her room; a small smile filled his face as he walked over to her. “I lost you in the village crowd; I was so worried that I had lost you.”
Walking over to his equipment, he gathered it up in his pack and walked outside. Walking over to the barn nearest to the house, Corqian prepared and brought back two horses, saddled and ready to go, he said his goodbyes and thanks to the healer and his wife.
“Thank you for what you have done.”
After saying goodbye the two mounted their horses and started their long journey, exiting town, Corqian turned to Will.
“Lead the way.”

Once Will had finished packing she was antsy waiting for the horses to be saddled. Once they were she said a quick goodbye and thank you to the healer and his wife before getting on her horse; once they reached the outskirts of the town Will nodded at Corqian “It’s about a 4 day ride however if we push it we can make it in 2 and a half possibly 2 if we really push it. But I doubt the horses are up for that” she replied before putting her horse into a gallop and they were off. Sure it hurt to ride at a gallop on such an uneven terrain but she ignored it. All she could focus on was getting as far away from the village as possible. She kept looking around her and behind her, checking to see if anybody had followed them she didn’t see anyone.
By the time they stopped to camp for the night Will was exhausted and sore; and she was pretty sure she had opened up a few of the stitches. She quickly sat down on ground, they had stopped in the meadow and even without a fire the moon was bright and it was warm outside. Lifting up her shirt slowly and hissing in pain she checked her side and sure enough there was blood dripping down. “Damnit” she muttered, still looking at the wound she directed her words to Corqian “Can you find something that I can clean this up with please?” she asked panting, maybe that ride took more out of her than she thought.

Corqian jumped of his horse just as the sun was falling in the western sky. They had been riding a steady pace the whole way to Will’s home, not even stopping to rest for the evening. Corqian was worried, Will had been on edge since they left the village, and he felt that something had happened that had put her on edge. As he prepared camp he kept a close eye on Will, she looked terrible, the ride had taken a lot out of her. Corqian unpacked all their gear, he felt a fire was unnecessary, the night was warm and dry. Just as he was finishing up Will called him over to help with her wound.
“Will, we shouldn’t have left the village so soon; you weren’t ready, and why ride the horses hard?”
Corqian didn’t wait for her to reply, he lifted Will shirt up. Looking at her wound he saw that the cut had opened again. Corqian shook his head, he pondered on the idea of what to use, his head wondered to the green scarf he used to keep his neck warm. Taking it off his neck he pressed it against the wound then wrapped it around her chest, creating a crude bandage.
“That should help, now rest and don’t get up.”
He said as he laid her down on a blanket, using another to tuck her in. he walked over to his own pack and tinkered with a few things.

Will sighed as she lay back, with the blankets and the fire it was kind of cozy. However she was kind of annoyed at Corqian. “You don’t give me enough credit. I can take care of myself and like I said I’ve been injured before and I’ll get injured again, that’s life. This was just a freak accident” she told him as he unpacked his stuff. Geez just because you get a little beat up and suddenly you’re the weak female who can’t do anything. “Besides, it’s wrong for you to have to do everything” she continued as she reluctantly came out of her warm cocoon and went over to her saddle bags, grabbing her sword and her daggers, and her regular clothing she carried them over to her spot, having to make two trips because of her cane. Once she was finished she plopped down back onto her spot with a sigh. Looking up she admired the stars, they sure were beautiful tonight.
