Once Will had finished bathing she emerged from the water and got ready. Sick of the ugly, uncomfortable itchy clothing that the healer had given her she decided she would wear her own clothing. Pulling on black breeches, followed by black knee high boots she place her daggers in her boots; 2 in each. She then pulled on her shirt, a black tunic that had been ripped off at the sleeves and around her stomach, so she wasn’t limited in her movements, plus it was cooler on a hot day. All of her clothing fit tightly to her body so as not to restrict her movements. Quickly she braided her hair then attached her sword to her belt, then putting her quiver of arrows on her back followed by the bow, she was ready and returned to camp to find Corqian…singing?
She approached the camp slowly so he wouldn’t stop and because she loved the sound of his voice. It was raw and rugged yet still beautiful. She smiled as she listened to him sing. She walked past him on her way to her horse where she still needed to pack a few things. Placing a light hand on his shoulder as she passed she said “You have a beautiful voice” and continued on to her horse. After she had finished packing she quickly mounted and looked at him. “Ready?”

Corqian’s face blushed as Will came from out of the tree line, gracing him with her presents she complemented him on his singing voice. He knew it was nothing special, though the elves were blessed with great singing voices, he felt that he hard unfortunately gotten the short end of the stick. However it didn’t matter, his swordsmanship was what he was known for. Corqian sat and ate his breakfast, nothing special but a few potatoes, bread and meat. Corqian finished fast as the road was long and they still had another day of travel until they reached Will's home.
“Lets be off, there is a long road ahead of us.”
Corqian packed the last of his equipment, quickly tightening and securing everything in place, then he walked away from his horse, getting right behind it about 15 feet. Corqian charged the horse and jumped, from the back of the horse he landed on his seat and charged the horse forward in a strong gallop.
“I’ll see you at the cottage.”
Corqian said as his horse charges down the road in a playful run, the wind swept through his hair, his cloak kicked up and whipped back and forth in the shy.

Will smiled “In you’re dreams!” she called back as she kicked her horse after him. Her horse took off energetically after a nights rest he was good as new. She caught up to Corqian and their horses were even, she looked over at him and blew him a kiss before kicking her horse again and it put on a burst of speed surging ahead of Corqian. She laughed and that’s how the whole day went. Laughing and joking as if they didn’t have a care in the world, when they stopped for the night they shared another amazing night together and everything seemed to be perfect.
They reached Will’s cottage the following afternoon, it was secluded in the middle of the woods. A little wooden cottage with a glacier pond nearby for bathing and such; once they got close to it Will dismounted and cooled her horse down and unloaded everything. She was still very sore all over and the bruises and stitches were still in however the swelling was completely gone so that was a good sign. She looked at Corqian before opening the door. “Home sweet home” she said quietly and opened the door, inside it was one room. With a fireplace, a bed and some hunting and cooking supplies. It wasn’t much however she didn’t need much since she lived alone and only got what she needed when she needed it. Throwing her stuff down on the floor she walked over and flopped onto her bed. It wasn’t nearly as comfortable as the healer’s however she still had missed it.

It was a beautiful calm day when the two came over the range, the cottage in was in sight, closed in the small forest, near a glacier pond. It was a beautiful sight to behold, especially since they had been riding for two days. Corqian rode up to the house and dismounted, unbuckling the saddle and his bags he took them into the cottage. The unpack was long but once finished Corqian turned his attention to the pond right outside the house, walking down the grassy dirt path he disrobed and jumped in, swimming back and forth, enjoying the cool water, knowing winter was fast approaching and these waters would freeze this far north. A few laps around the water proved good exercise, swimming to a small island in the middle Corqian pulled himself up against the rocky bank and laid down. Admiring the clouds as they rolled over head, his mind wondering to old days spent in the woods with his kin. Chasing deer and playing scout they would pretend to fight off giants, childhood memories of old.
“May my soul rise to the heavens and find you father?”
His hand rose up to the sky, grasping at the blue as it swirled about, clenching it in his bear hands.

Will watched Corqian head in the direction of the pond however now that she was on her bed the exhaustion was kicking in and she fell asleep. And as she slept she dreamed; she dreamed about Corqian and William. In her dream she saw herself marrying William, and in the crowd was Corqian with sadness and hatred on his face, for her and for William. A tear ran down her face as she knew she had broken his heart as William slid the ring on her finger and she said “I do.” Will awoke with a jerk, looking around she realized it was dark already, sitting up she rubbed her eyes and yawned. Pulling out her braid since it was coming out anyways she let her hair loose around her shoulders; it had become wavy from braiding while it was wet. She smiled as she lit a fire in the small cabin as the fall brung colder and colder nights. As she did she remember Corqian singing this afternoon and that brought her to sing to herself as well.
“There where nights when the wind was so cold. That my body froze in bed if I just listened to it right outside the window.
There were days when the sun was so cruel, that all the tears turned to dust and I just knew my eyes were drying out forever.
I finished crying in the instant that you left, and I can’t remember where or when or how. And I banished every memory you and I had ever made.
But when you touch me like this, and you hold me like that; I just have to admit that it’s all coming back to me. When I touch you like this, and I hold you like that. Its so hard to believe that’s its all coming back to me now” she sang quietly her thoughts switching from Corqian to William and back, thinking of Williams threat and if he did find them what she would have to do to save Corqian. The more she thought of it the more she became saddened and crushed and before she knew it a few silent tears began running down her face. She knew if it came to it that the only way to save Corqian would be to hurt him. Hurt him so deeply that he would hate her forever, think that she was nothing but trash and a sleeper. It would hurt him she knew but if it would keep him alive then she knew she would do it if she must. Taking a shuddery breath Will began wondering where Corqian was.

Eternity seemed to slow as he lay their, though he did not sleep his mind wondered. Only time snapped him out, time had passed and Corqian had to head back to the cottage. Swimming back Corqian made his way onto the shore, gathering his clothes he made his way back to the cottage. The old door swung open and lying on the bed was Will, tired and sleepy form travel. Corqian pulled a blanket over her and went back to his duties. Corqian spent the day collecting wood for the winter, repairing the cottage and the work shed, even sharpening all the tools. Though it took all day he had finished everything, finding some free time, he thought he would have a little fun. Walking out into the woods he started chopping down tree branches, gathering straw and rope. In time Corqian had made a small training yard of dummy men made of straw. Though the sun almost touched the horizon Corqian spent the rest of his time training, wearing nothing but his leather leggings, boots and bracers Corqian went through the motions of his many years of training. Every style coming to him was a beautiful dance, but few knew that the style was a sword style, an ancient style set down by the Dervish.
When he felt the time test his sword, he first tested them on the dummies. He had places the dummies all around him, to represent being cornered, wooden swords places in their hands at specific key points to represent each attack. Corqian’s two swords spun about his the setting sun, creating beautiful flashes of light, as fast as the came it was gone. His blades spun at impossible angles as he went through the training field, going form one enemy to the next. Corqian slashed and blocked every sword, moving an evading back and forth to mix up his attacks and become unpredictable. At first it was slow, but as time went on he moved up in speed, before it was a blur, spinning back and forth, flipping and dipping he moved between the dummies to key weak points.

As the two weeks came and passed Will was on edge, but the longer and longer they spent without any interruptions the more she relaxed. William wasn’t coming for her and she now realized something with Corqian. She was in love with him. It surprised her but for some reason she could just feel it. Sure she had said it in the heat of the moment their first night together but the more she thought about it the more she realized it was so true. She knew that they would spend the rest of their lives living like this, alone, together and happy. This is why it destroyed her when her worst fears came true.
It was an early crisp fall morning and Will had awoken early, she didn’t know for what reason, she knew she wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep so she decided to go for a nice morning ride. She quickly dressed and before she left snuck over and gave the still sleeping Corqian a quick kiss and then quietly slunk out. The ride was wonderful, she loved the smell of fall and the forest and that early in the morning the forest just seemed so alive. Taking a nice deep breath she closed her eyes and as she did her horse reared; her eyes immediately flashed open and she tried to calm her horse down but as she did she saw why he had reared. Standing in front of her horse to her horror was William.
She was so shocked that when her horse reared again this time she fell off and her horse took off back towards the house. Will lay there her face frozen in horror as she watched him walk towards her his arms crossed and a smirk on his face “Good morning Willemina” he said
Will couldn’t reply she knew why he was here and what was going to happen. When she didn’t greet him back he sighed and quickly grabbed her and roughly stood her up, his hand still gripping her arm as he said “Its been more than two weeks and you still have not returned to me, so I came for you. Now I’m assuming you’re still with that elf?” he said the word elf like it was some sort of disease.
Will nodded as she looked at William still in mute horror. He sighed “well then my love you have two options, one you come with me willingly or two you don’t, I kill you’re little friend and then I take you with me by force. Which is it going to be?” he asked smugly. Finally she found her voice “He won’t let me go so easily William, he will fight for me” she said quietly but here was a cold edge to her voice.
He looked at her for a moment before the smirk came back “Well then I guess you have only one solution for that my dear. Hurt him, make him not want you anymore then you will be free to be mine” he said it with such an evil glee that even though she knew he was right Will almost broke down right then and there. When she didn’t reply he knew that he had won. Smiling he signaled to somebody and a man with a sword brought out a horse. William put her in the saddle before jumping up behind and taking the reins.
They rode in silence, him in triumph, her in heartache. They stopped just before her cottage, far enough so that you could see the cottage but from the cottage you couldn’t see them. Will dismounted and saw that as usual Corqian was outside working. She was just about to go to him before William grabbed her by the waist and brought her back, pressing up against her he whispered “Remember you tell him anything that he can’t hear and my archers” he paused pointed around and she could see that surrounding her cottage hidden were about two dozen archers. “Well you know what will happen.” He finished and roughly pushed her forward “No go, and make it quick, we have a long journey because you pick such a dreadful place to live.”
Will walked into the cottage area towards Corqian, her face she knew looked horribly sad, and now what she was about to do would be the death of her heart.

Corqian's head rolled over on the pillow, his gaze moving to the empty spot where Will was. His eyes broke open as he raised himself from the bed. The last two weeks had been magical, for many long years Corqian had been alone. The long road as well as his curse had left him alone, with only the sound of nature to keep him company. He jumped out of bed, throwing his clothes he stepped out of the cottage, slamming the door as he jumped out. It was only when he noticed that Will’s horse was gone did he settle down, Corqian had to remember she was a free spirit, a wild horse herself, she wasn’t tied down and Corqian wouldn’t want her to. That is what he loved about her, she made him feel again, both good and bad it seemed. Corqian could see her horse galloping off into the distance, her beautiful long golden brown hair whipping in the wind, he had awaken many times with his own head buried deep in it, Will laughed the first night back in the cottage. He went back to tucking his shirt and redoing his pants, put on in the rush.
Corqian went for the shed and took the axe out form the corner of the building; walking back over to the wood pile he began chopping. His mind wondering back to Will rather then the wood pile, Her cute laugh and smile coming into view as he cut the wood, she would lean against the cottage, enticing Corqian with her womanly charm, trying to break the calm elf’s composure and see him come to her, just to say no, then when she felt she had made him suffer enough she would kiss him, a smile coming across both their faces as they stood their, then Corqian would chase her about the cottage, saying he would take revenge by having his way with her, she would laugh and give a playful scream then run. He would catch her, in the struggle they would fall to the ground and lay their, Corqian pinning her to the ground the two would laugh then Corqian would move in for a killing stroke and kiss her.
His mind quickly woke from his day dream when he heard her horse coming in, his eyes moved to the road as he walked up the path, hoping to catch her, but Corqian face froze, he ran as fast as he could. He grabbed the rains of the horse, his eyes looking everywhere, a small tears gathering at the bottom of his eyes. Their was no one in the saddle, his mind quickly grasped the events. Had she fallen, had she been attached, had she been killed? He looked out at the open rode then turned back to the cottage, going for his things he would go out and find her, but before he got half way to the cottage a faint step rang out on the road. He quickly turned about his eyes fell upon her, a little beaten and a sad look on her face but nothing bad. she was walking towards him, but he ran, as hard and as fast as he could, rapping his arms around her, his heart was in relief.
“I thought you might be hurt, I’m so glad your not.”

Will knew this was going to be hard, she knew she would barely survive it but when Corqian came running to her wrapping her in arms, his warmth, own personal cocoon of safety she knew that this would kill her. Maybe not physically but emotionally she would be nothing but a shell. She closed her eyes when he hugged her, she could feel tears in her eyes threatening to spill at any moment; but she knew what she had to do. She didn’t hug him back and took a few deep breathes to calm herself and to put the tears away until after this ordeal “No, I’m fine” she said her voice unemotional. Like she didn’t care, that’s exactly how she had to make him feel.
She placed her hands on his chest and immediately her thoughts went back to their first night and blissful and wonderful they had been. Shaking her head she pushed him away from her, not forcefully but enough to make him break their hug. She didn’t look at him as she began the speech that would end her life and his. “Corqian, we have to end this, this, whatever it is. Its just not going to work, I’m sorry but that’s how it has to be” she said her voice quiet and flat and she tried to step past him, hoping praying that he would accept it and let her be, but she knew better.

Corqian was so glad to hear her say she was fine, his grasp around her got a moment tighter, just to ensure she was still their. He was so happy he hadn’t even heard the tone of her voice; he thought she was calm to not keep him calm, but he quickly became confused when a light push came from his chest, he looked at her. She was emotionless, like a doll, his eyes tried to pierce through the deception, but their was none. Corqian gladly let her go and slowly stepped back, still confused, but soon he was heart broken. Will’s beautiful brown eyes looked up at him as she shook her head, a slight ring of water around the edge. Then her head dipped and she spoke words he thought she would never say. All their love, so pure and innocent, so full of life came crashing down. It seemed it would last for eternity, but in two weeks it was dead. Corqian head sunk, small tears rolled from his face as she stepped from him and walked past him. She only got to steps before his hand grasped hers and spun her around to look back at him, he was trying to hold his composure but he was losing. Their was something terribly wrong, Corqian just looked at her as he spoke.
“Will, you can’t mean that, I know you. Is something wrong?”
Holding her hand so softly hoping that the touch alone would bring her back.

Will couldn’t believe it he was letting her go, just like that. Maybe he didn’t love her and this was for the best, she almost broke down on her way to the cottage just from that thought but when he touched her hand she felt the same yearning for him that she had that first night. However she shook it away and as he turned her around, she almost lost it, looking at the pain in his face already from just those few words, but her face was still stone and her voice still flat, but this time when she spoke it wavered slightly. “What’s wrong is this. What were doing, it can’t happen it wasn’t meant to. I’m not supposed to be with an elf...”her voice trailed off as she hoped that was enough to do the trick.
Please just hate me and leave, then you’ll be safe she silently pleaded and she could see William and his men had moved closer but you could only see them if you knew they were there and she could tell that he was getting impatient.

Corqian was beginning to lose it, he was losing it, and he couldn’t understand why she was saying these things. As if the last two weeks were a mistake to her, Corqian's face sank even more, his tears rolling freely from his face, unsure what he had done wrong.
“Why are you doing this? I love you and you love me.”
Corqian wrapped his arms around her one more time, grabbing her in a loving embrace; he wanted to hold her forever and never let go. Like a dyeing love he embraced her in his final moment, a falling moment came to him, the thought of losing her made his heart sink. Would this be the last fleeting moments of a great love, would he remember her for this moment? His mind then was reminded of their first night, their first smile, their first laugh, and of course their first kiss. No, he couldn’t let go he wanted to be with her for the rest of her life, even long after she grew old and her life had ended he would love her. She was human true, but it didn’t matter.
“Will, that doesn’t matter, elf…men… I will always love you.”

Will inside was breaking; she was shattering into a million pieces. His pleas cut through her like a knife; she could feel the slashes all through her body as he embraced her. She was just about to let it all go, forget about William and stay with Corqian, her arms twitched and went to return the affection but she saw the archers raise their bows and her eyes widened. The shoved him away this time harshly and savagely “No!” she screamed not angrily but almost as if she was in pain, she wasn’t yelling at him she was yelling at William. She turned and quickly ran into the cottage, she grabbed a bag and began throwing things in, she could barely see from the tears that were blurring her vision. She came back out and brushed past Corqian. But she saw the archers still had their bows raised, and at that moment the loathing she felt for William, there were no words to describe it. He wanted her to destroy Corqian, what she had already said wasn’t good enough.
She turned back to Corqian and with the rage she felt for William said to him her tone cold and icy “You were nothing to me Corqian, just a fling until the time came for me to return to Cair Paravel where my true love lies. You were nothing and that’s all you’ll ever be!” she finished her voice rising to a scream and she knew she had to leave. Quickly she turned and burst into a sprint, tears streaming down her face as she reached William she collapsed. He smirked at his victory, motioning for his men to get moving he walked over to Will and just to make his dominance over her known roughly brought her to her feet and smashed his mouth over hers, his hands moving along her body in rough commanding way. She didn’t fight him because she had no will to fight him. She was nothing now, numb and once he had finished he smirked before motioning for one of his men to put her in the wagon they had brought. He mounted his horse and off they went, the only sound coming from Will sobbing in the wagon as she left her one and only true love behind.

Corqian hug was filled with only love for her, the purest kind, though they both knew that their love could with stand anything, at that moment both felt they weather anything, but something compelled Will, far enough to shove Corqian to the ground. Like a glass mirror shattering upon the grassy plain, Corqian broke. He hit the ground and looked up, she yelled no and turned her back to him, she walked back into the house, Corqian lay on the ground for a moment his eyes drenched with the lines of many tears, he couldn’t take it anymore, on his knees he slumped to the lowest point. He stared at the ground; the light breeze of the day moving the grass along, a single tear clipped a small yellow flower on the ground. Corqian didn’t even look up when she passed him; her knee grazing his shoulder was like electricity. For that one moment his time with her flashed front of his eyes, for that one moment he smiled under his tear covered eyes.
“Will.”
It was so soft, like a whisper, any louder it would die or be caught by the wind. However no more then a second it seemed her faint shadow beamed across his back on the grass, for a moment he thought it nothing more then a terrible dream, a nightmare that he would wake from but not. Her voice cut deeper then any blade, at that moment he had felt the deadliest strike of all, all those other moments of battle, the constant struggle for life and death had been nothing. Even the scares he had nothing to show to this, he didn’t even turn to look at her, his body only stiffen as she yelled at him. Spurting words of loveless affair, it all seemed so much. Corqian was so far away he didn’t even hear her leave, not even the distant carriage sound, it was all gone. For an eternity he knelt in the grass, still crying. When he finally found the will to rise he made his way into the cottage and fell upon the bed, the same place he had laid for two weeks, his hand moving to Will’s spot, he small indentation still laid out on the bed.
“I just want hold you.”
His voice cracked and stuttered as he gripped his hand as tight as he could around the blanket on the bed; pulling on it he wrapped his body in a protective cocoon of her love. He could feel her wrapping her loving arms around him as the blanket did, even the scent of her loving body could be smelled. He slowly cried himself to sleep, wrapped in his last moments of happiness he uttered his last words before falling asleep.
“I will… Always love you.”
